There is an old hymn that goes as follows:

What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and griefs to bear.

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer.

Oh, what peace we often forfeit

Oh, what needless pains we bear

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer.

I repeat, have you prayed today? Don’t make it harder than it should be. Don’t make it religious. Prayer is nothing more than a conversation with a good, good friend. Imagine speaking to your very best friend. You go over every detail of your day. From big to small, nothing is left out. You can discuss outfit choices. You can discuss what you ate for lunch. You can discuss what you are going to cook for dinner. You can talk about boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife issues. You can chat about child rearing struggles. You can tell ‘em when your change is looking a lil strange and when your money is funny. You can share it all! You can be open. You can be honest. You can be FREE because this is bestie, and you can tell them ANYTHING!!! Allow me to remind you, that you have yet another friend, and He is closer than a brother. He wants to hear all about your day. He actually desires that you would cast all your cares upon Him. (1 Peter 5:7) He WANTS you to! But wait! There’s more! He’s going to give you something in exchange for your trouble. According to Isaiah 61:3 there is beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Now, I absolutely LOVE my bestie to the moon and back- but she can’t do all that! What peace have you forfeit, lost, or deprived yourself of? What property, right, or privilege have you relinquished? What pain do you needlessly continue to bear knowing God waits for you to come exchange it for the promise of joy? Take the time to pray TODAY! Do not delay. There is so much God wants to speak to you. There is so much He wants to do for you, in you and through you! You may think you are waiting on God, but chances are He’s waiting on you. So, grab that big old bag of burdens and take them to the Lord in prayer. Like RIGHT NOW! No, for real. Set this blog aside and go PRAY!
